Butterfly Boucher
It’s been a decade since Aussie singer-songwriter Butterfly Boucher’s sadly overlooked debut album, Flutterby. Since then she’s been awfully quiet, decamping to America and recording this, her third album, in Nashville.
As with her debut, it’s a smart collection of heart-on-sleeve indie pop. This time around, the guitars have been ratcheted up (Boucher’s even got a hot rock chick makeover), resulting in driving pop-rock songs like album opener and first single 5678!
Those hanging out for new Missy Higgins music could do worse than checking the album out, too. A track the two singers wrote, Unashamed Desire, appears here sung by Boucher, while Higgins’ own version will be released as the first single from her upcoming third album.
