Avril sings a pop lullaby

Avril Lavigne is experiencing something of a career revival in Australia with a recent top 10 hit and hopes to keep the momentum going with the second single from her number one album Goodbye Lullaby.

Written and produced by noted hitmakers Max Martin and Shellback (Britney, Ke$ha etc), Smile is already shooting up the Australian iTunes download chart.

The catchy track is a throwback to the irreverence of earlier hits like sk8erboi and Girlfriend – a theme which appears to be carried through into the video.

In a recently released behind the scenes preview, Avril is seen spraying graffiti and, not surprisingly, plugging her clothing line Abbey Dawn.

Take a look and let us know what you think – is this song another hit or a big miss?

  1. Sadly, i agree with J_Brisby.
She kept saying this is a serious album, but the only thing we have seen, is Avril being more silly and immature than ever.

She has good songs in her album, why not release them?

  2. I just don’t get Avril anymore. She’s all over the map. She’s put out an album that she kept saying was so mature, and serious, and emotional. But everything she’s done in public since the album comes out seems to be trying to create an image of being silly, and fun, and frivolous. Now we’ve got Smile, a complete piece of bitchy fluff, but she’s trying to put some sort of heartwarming concept in the video. Does she have ADD or something? Can’t she see that it doesn’t fit?
