Gay bishop to officiate Nixon wedding

Openly gay US Bishop Gene Robinson has revealed that he’ll be performing the marriage ceremony for former Sex & the City star Cynthia Nixon and her partner, Christine Marinoni, this May.

The Episcopalian minister spoke to Queerty.com about their request for him to take part.

“I’ve been invited by Cynthia and her partner to officiate at their ceremony over Memorial Day weekend,” Robinson said.

“It’s going to be my great pleasure to be there and to be a part of that celebration.”

Nixon has been the centre of controversy during the past week after a series of interviews in which she described being gay as a choice for her and that she didn’t like the term ‘bisexual’ because “nobody likes the bisexuals”.

Robinson himself was married to a woman for 13 years, but later admitted he was actively denying a part of his personality.
