Act now for Courtney (7/8/2003)

She sings, she dances and she’s got a wicked way with a one-liner: Sydney drag queen Courtney Act is fast proving to be one of our favourite contestants on the new reality TV show, Australian Pop Idol. Courtney’s alter ego Shane was sunning himself on the New Zealand slopes this week as part of Gay Ski Week and had not yet seen his appearances on the show -“ but told Sydney Star Observer he had had SMSs aplenty from friends who had tuned in to last weekend’s episodes. I’ve been skiing on the slopes in drag and having a very camp time, he said. Shane said he was still deciding what song to sing for Courtney’s big solo performance on the show. It’s really hard to make a choice; I’m still scouring to see what I come up with, he said. The outfit for the big number has also yet to be confirmed, but with four dresses being made up for Courtney’s appearance at the upcoming DIVAs, she will certainly have a few choices. You go, girl. Australian Pop Idol screens on Sunday and Monday at 7:30pm, on Channel Ten.
