The 30th anniversary Pride Week celebrations kick off this weekend with a fancy dinner, free self-defence sessions, a spiritual session and an all-in Home nightclub celebration.
The fourth Aurora dinner on Saturday night promises to be fabulous, formal and a wonderful fundraiser for gay and lesbian community organisations.
Last year’s dinner raised more than $40,000. The night is the gay community’s most shamelessly glamorous, tickets are $150 per person and bookings can be made by calling 9331 5276.
On Sunday night Home nightclub will host Sunday Recovery, a Pride and New Mardi Gras fundraiser featuring DJs Kate Monroe and Alex Taylor on the Terrace, and Kelly Lynch and Chip in the Silver Room.
Tickets are $20 full price and $15 for Pride and New Mardi Gras members.
On Wednesday night the hit of the 2002 Mardi Gras Festival, the Boxing Club, will hit the Imperial Hotel.
The Boxing Club is basically a community soapbox. Entrants have two minutes to say whatever they want and the audience will decide who gets the eventual prize.
Gillian Minervini will host the show, which starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $5.
