Man dies at sex-on-site venue

Police are treating the death of a man at a Collingwood sex-on-site venue as an accidental death. The 37-year-old jockey and racehorse trainer was found asphyxiated during the early hours of 6 October at Club 80. A police spokesperson said the coroner was investigating the incident and police had ruled out suicide. The man has died from hanging, the police spokesperson said. However, it was not a suicide. Police are treating it as an accidental death. Club 80 general manager Steve Fargo told the Star the former Adelaide man was a well-liked and respected member of the gay and leather communities. Fargo said the man’s death was tragic and he would be greatly missed by his friends and family. Fargo described the death as a one-off tragedy which did not reflect on Club 80’s high safety standards. He said every effort was made by staff at the venue to ensure patrons played safely.
