Search for missing man continues

The mystery surrounding the disappearance of Sydney chef Simon Robert Knight continues to baffle Redfern police and his family.

His mother, Robyn Conlan, this week told of her concerns for her 32-year-old son, who has been missing for three weeks.

Our concern is for Simon’s wellbeing and safety, Robyn Conlan says. His family and friends just want him back.

Friends of the missing man have reported to his parents that some of Knight’s behaviour in recent months has been out of character.

Ms Conlan and Simon Knight’s father Bob have spent much of the past few weeks visiting the Oxford Street venues that their son frequented in the hope that someone might have seen him.

Knight is believed to have spent the evening of 20 July at the City Crown Motel, but staff reported he checked out alone and in a good mood the following morning.

Knight is described as being about 181cm tall, with reddish-blonde hair, a lightly trimmed beard, blue eyes and a solid build.

Notices titled Looking for Simon have appeared in Sydney Star Observer in recent weeks, but have not prompted any reports of definite sightings.

Sergeant Kirsty McIntosh of Redfern Police Station admitted the investigation is now running out of new leads.

It is such a strange case and very frustrating, she said. It is like he walked off the end of the earth.

Anyone with any information about Simon Robert Knight is asked to contact Sergeant Kirsty McIntosh at Redfern Police Station on 8303 5199.
