Tickets for the Mardi Gras dance party went on sale before Christmas, with a special price of $99 for tickets purchased before 13 February. After 13 February, the price goes up to $120.

It’s a new strategy for an organisation still in its embryonic form and a way of circumventing a problem endemic within our community: “gay time”.

“We know that at least 50 percent of our ticket sales happen in the last week before the party,” Woodhouse told the Star a month ago, explaining the earlybird strategy.
