It will be trapeze work with a twist when acrobat Mark Winmill takes to the Sydney Opera House stage in the show Feasting On Flesh next week.
Winmill will be one of five performers in a show that blends circus, burlesque and vaudeville traditions. He says the experimental production is sure to be a hit with gay fans.
I do a few gender-bending comic acts, a bit of magic, a bit of gender-bending showgirl assistant to the magician, he says.
It’s pretty out there, there’s lots of nudity and lots of tits and ass.
My main act is [on] a new aerial apparatus. It looks like a chef’s pot rack hanging above a kitchen table with pots and pans on it.
Brisbane resident Winmill first learned his craft from his acrobat father and honed it with a trapeze traineeship in Byron Bay and performances at events such as Sleaze Ball.
In Feasting On Flesh, he will work with performers including burlesque artist Gypsy Wood and ringmaster Bille Brown. The show is set to the music of ARIA-nominated singer Gotye.
Fans can also get a glimpse of Winmill this Friday night when he performs a burlesque strip show at the new Vice fetish party at Arq.
