Love finds its way online

Inspired by the popularity of online dating and hook-ups, Boston-based gay writing duo Scott Pomfret and Scott Whittier (also known as the Romentics) put their hearts and minds together to write their latest novel E-Male.
Since meeting on the dancefloor and falling in love, the pair have produced their own line of romance novels. Their latest book continues the Romentics string of novels for gay men who love a fairytale ending.
E-Male follows the arc of a developing relationship but it is protagonist Kory Miles’s secret that causes a stir -” he’s the creator of an online dating website.
This allows us behind the curtain of the crazy online dating world and it allows us to see what happens when Kory’s own site matches him with Zac, the owner of a gay travel agency, author Scott said.
This odd pairing creates a strange business deal and an even stranger relationship. Matches are made online and conspiracies are hatched, while away from the computer screen secrets, enemies and emotions are revealed.  It’s a novel with many twists and turns.
We always try to show the real men under the stereotypes in our novels. Part of why Kory created E-male is because he wants to help gay men find true love and avoid all the stereotypes of gay life, dating and hook-ups, Promfret said.
We want every character and story to be unique, sexy and entertaining. But the moral of all our stories is that gay men should be able to pursue true love -” through the fantasies of romance novels and in real life, just like any straight reader.
We show that underneath all the craziness and emotional baggage, everyone wants to fall in love. Online dating may be a whole new way of finding a mate, deceiving people and manipulating emotions -” but the desire to fall in love surpasses technology and trickery.
