Is cyber flirting cheating?

Every day we have to follow certain rules for life to function. It can be driving a car, acting responsibly in bars or just normal home life. The rules all serve a purpose: to stop a certain consequence from occurring. Relationships are not exempt from rules and couples have to follow certain ones to keep their relationships running smoothly.

One of the major ones is Thou shalt not cheat on one’s partner. It comes right before the Thou shalt remember important dates rule and the Thou shalt never insult Madonna rule.

In the real world cheaters do roam among us. They look like normal people and are very hard to spot. They are very much like their cousins, the liars. And thanks to the internet it is all the more tempting for these people to strike and cheat on unsuspecting prey.

I am not talking about chatting online to friends or discussing topics with interesting people around the world. As soon as chat turns into bedroom talk and questions about sizes other than shoes, then it falls into the dangerous territory.

It crosses the line from a green to a red zone, and this is when the sneaking and deceiving occurs.

You have to wonder what they are doing in a singles chat room in the first place. It is because the internet is an easy place to meet people anonymously, which is why the cheaters thrive in there.

But cheaters usually cheat because they are missing something from their relationship that they think they can get from someone else. If you are not sure if you are one of these people, a good indication is if you don’t mention that you are taken during the first 10 minutes of conversation. Cyber cheating can quickly move from chatting, to organising meetings to regular meetings and then full-blown affairs.

Some use the excuse that if they weren’t asked, then they won’t have to tell. Excuses are a cheater’s best friend. If you want someone else, then end your relationship and become single.

Cyber cheating soon becomes an addiction and every addiction has consequences. But they always get caught out.
