
Liberal MP proposes civil unions bill
South Australian Liberal MP Mark Brindal today announced he will propose a civil unions bill that will allow same-sex couples to have their relationships formally recognised under South Australian law.
Brindal stressed that civil unions are not the same as marriage and that he is not trying to undermine the institution of marriage or the Church.
“Instead it is an attempt to address a glaring omission in the area of equality for all people,” he said.
