Noms open for Mardi Gras advisory group

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras (SGLMG) is seeking expressions of interest from people to join its Member and Community Advisory Group, a forum to help identify engagement and consultation needs and opportunities.

SGLMG wants expressions of interest from current or past Mardi Gras members and are a representative ‘voice’ for particular groups; members of other LGBTI community organisations who can highlight the needs and concerns of specific groups; people who are committed to the history, heritage, sustainability and growth of SGLMG; or people who understand the complexity of the LGBTI community and can balance the needs and views of impacted groups.

The group will meet at least four times a year. Appointments will be made on the basis of merit while ensuring representation across the LGBTI community. Appointments will be made in early February.

The group’s first task will be to examine the Festival and Parade name change. It will meet after the 2012 season to discuss ways forward that may include further consultations, workshops, or a survey on the preferred name.

Make an expression of interest by writing to SGLMG CEO Michael Rolik at [email protected] outlining how you meet the role’s criteria.
