Ready to purr again

The very sexy and always entertaining Meow Meow is returning to Sydney as part of the Sydney Festival.

Meow Meow’s new show, Insert the Name of the Person You Love, features tragedy and titillation, science and fiction. It was inspired by an article about the length of time it takes to fall in love.

“I wouldn’t be honest with myself if I didn’t admit that I find heartbreak tragic but also rather amusing,” she told SSO.

“My shows employ aspects of musical theatre, performance art and stand-up comedy to portray the emotional gymnastics of love.

“Once you’ve had your heart broken, life truly begins. My show can get quite bleak … the music evokes the darkest feelings of pain and loneliness. Love resides in the same part of the brain as hunger and addiction – it is a primal need.

“I can’t say everyone will like the show, but it will certainly create something … shock, jubilation, offence, confusion or hopefully all of the above.”

Meow Meow plays the Pilgrim Theatre 22-26 January. Tickets start at $40. Bookings: 1300 723 038.
