Bowled over at CoastOut
The 2011 CoastOut gay and lesbian beach festival in Coffs Harbour will have a Barefoot Bowls & Brekky event this year.
A fundraiser for the ACON, the day of relaxed sport will be held at the Park Beach Bowling Club.
Attendees can head in from the beach — or the dancefloor — and enjoy a recovery morning by the green which will be accompanied by chilled-out tunes from Sydney’s DJ Box.
Teams will be allocated lanes on the day, and people wanting to be a part of the event without taking part are welcome to come on down and enjoy the vibe.
Organisers are promoting the event as a great warm-up for the CoastOut Fair Day later that day.
Breakfast is included in your ticket price for bowls and $2.50 is donated to ACON Coffs Harbour.
Two of the festival’s most popular sporting events, the Beach Carnival and the Unreal Surf Competition, will also be back for the weekend-long celebration.
Sydney drag queen Sandy Bottom will again host the competition, and she’ll be joined by a professional team of organisers, commentators and accredited judges from Surfing NSW.
After the early morning surf competition, the action will continue at the beach carnival, with a diverse line-up of events planned. Participants can enter events including a 4km fun run, 1.2km ocean swim, beach sprints and shorter ocean swim relays.
Barefoot Bowls & Brekky is on Sunday, October 31 from 9am.
