KISS FM Announce A Very Gay Replacement For Kyle Sandilands In Melbourne
It’s been six months since Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O were suspended from their popular Breakfast show; now at least one of their replacements has been announced.
Popular broadcaster Ash London and fashion commentator Elliot Garnaut have been announced as two of the three hosts taking the reins in the vacant Melbourne spot left by the infamous hosts after their attempt to dominate both Sydney and Melbourne airwaves.
And the fact that Elliot Garnaut is an openly gay man is a very relevant and important part of the story.

Ash London and Elliot Garnaut to replace Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O
Part of Kyle Sandilands notoriety on The Kyle and Jackie O Show is not just his brazen and unfiltered statements and stunts about just about anyone.
Countless times, amongst misogynistic and sexist statements, Kyle has made blisteringly insensitive and crass statements about members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including staff working on his own show.
More importantly, Kyle, like many men who are the face of mainstream radio stations, is a straight man.
Across the country’s major capital city radio stations, the voices hosting their breakfast and drive programs are predominantly straight white males, with the exception of a very small few. With Joel Creasey recently departing the Nova drive show, it’s largely Hamish Macdonald in ABC Sydney and Nathan Morris in Perth holding down the fort. In a list of 40+ prominent male radio personalities, that’s a pretty small percentage. If there are others out there we’ve missed, we’re sorry!
The announcement today that Elliot Garnaut would be taking the reins alongside Ash London in the major prime time slot vacated by The Kyle and Jackie O Show in Melbourne makes for a refreshing shakeup of what is becoming a very tired mould of straight, white, ex-football players, comedians and ex-reality television contestants sitting front and centre on Australian radio.
Juxtaposed against the content Sandilands was delivering, it’s even better and is a huge step forward for LGBTQIA+ representation on Australian radio.
So with that, we welcome our very gay new host, Elliot Garnaut.

Who is Elliot Garnaut?
Not everyone may be familiar with Elliot Garnaut, but he’s certainly been making a name for himself in the Australian media and fashion industry, and his latest radio gig is another feather in his cap.
Garnaut has made a name for himself as a fashion commentator working with some of the biggest names in the fashion world.
He has appeared on several Channel 7 programs as a fashion reporter, including Sunrise and Mornings. He also co-hosts the hilarious, worlds colliding, No Utes In The Valet podcast which is billed as “Ab Fab meets The Front Bar, served with a side of sibling-like bickering.”
Garnaut hosts the podcast alongside former AFL player Isaac Smith, who is tipped to join Elliot and Ash on the new Melbourne breakfast show.
The new trio is expected to hit the Melbourne airwaves later this year.
It is expected that a different team will eventually front the Sydney breakfast spot
