Imperial re-opening a success

Imperial re-opening a success

After three years of renovations and multiple court battles the queen of the inner-west, the Imperial Hotel, re-opened on Friday night with a special invitation-only party.

The crowd was a mix of well known community faces and patrons who so regularly called the Imperial home.

Even former drag dresser and door charge collector Michelle flew back from Los Angeles for the opening night party, and DIVA Hall of Fame winner Chelsea Bun made a special appearance on stage to celebrate the venue’s return.

Bingay will return to the hotel this Tuesday night. Click HERE for more details.

  1. Chris and Davo, I agree.. I’ve been going to the Impy for about 20 years and the front bar is just weird.. the feng shui is well out of order..

The drinks have gone up and the cover charge of $20 is a complete rip off! Especially as you’ve pointed out, “you walk in to no DJ and a CD playing”.. Screams: “RIP OFF”

I can tollerate $10 cover charge but if it doesn’t change I wont be back,i’d rather go the the Bank Hotel where I cant dance to the music from a DJ..

  2. Davo you are right. I watched one of the security guards just staring at all the women downstairs on Sat night. I was disgusted and could not believe it.
Whilst the place looks great and the cellar bar is truly amazing the 20 cover charge is too much, the expensive drinks and the CD playing instead of a DJ was a total letdown.
I went on the Friday night and the DJ downstairs was amazing. She had everyone jumping. Sat night well let’s just say a lot of people won’t be back.
I tried to bring things up with Shad through the imperial website, he just deleted my comments I know others who did the same and all the same result.

Drop the cover charge to $10, put a DJ in downstairs and open before 11. Drop the price on your drinks, it’s a pub not Arq just because it’s the only gay venue in the inner west does not mean you can take advantage of the community.
Do that and you will have a success as it should be. The Impi is part of the community an institution we love it and want to make it a part of our lives once again.

  3. Ummmmmmmmmm 3 years of closed doors and the front bar feels awkward – the feng shui is defo off !!! I will give it a go over the weekend to check out the other floors. Also what is with the creepy security guys (they are not creepy themselves but their actions are a bit creepy) – do we really need to be kept an eye on the whole time and the toilets checked every 5 minutes? This is just over kill and makes me feel very uncomfortable !
